Marathon
So my husband and I are currently training for a marathon. It is something we have always wanted to do and we decided what the heck let's get going on it or it will never happen. We currently run 3 miles tuesday-friday, on monday do some alternate form of cardio workout and on saturday we do a long run that increases each week. We are hoping to get in better shape and be healthier, but an added bonus we never expected is the time we have to talk. We don't take music (Cause it falsely speeds up your time and the marathon we want to do won't let you use it) we don't take our cell phones and for however long it takes us each day we just get to be together and talk. It's wonderful! I'm liking this no media thing.

Wow. Good for you for training to do a marathon! And that is wonderful that you are able to take that time to disconnect from media and connect to each other. :-)
ReplyDeleteA marathon is the coolest thing. Very unique bonding experience. Every long run Tom and I run together, I end up getting mad during it, then we have it out, make up, and finish the run peachy. But, no kidding, this happens during every long run. I can only guess that its due to the fact that we are running with nothing else going on for 1 plus hours together. No distractions equals lots of time to talk. Funny thing, it's usually the same fight each time too.
ReplyDeleteI'm very impressed with the marathon training! Also, I think it's awesome that you two are able to have that time together without any media and are able to just talk. Good luck with training!
ReplyDeleteI did a half marathon and I can't tell you how amazing it is. The sense of satisfaction and accomplishment at the end is unbeatable. I'd love to do a marathon someday. Keep up the good work!
